THE SHORT STORY

When I founded this LLC in 2023 my name originally served as a  placeholder. However, after  a year of thinking it over I have happily landed on Sunflower Studio. The meaning behind this name is one of simplicity and warmth.

As the sunflower turns to the east every morning to follow the path of the sun, I wanted to emmulate this sentiment throughout the brand. It serves as a reminder that we must try to look towards tomorrow with optimism. Better days are yet to come. There will be more laughs to share with loved ones, and warm spring days to cherish outside. This flower is my reminder to turn to the sun.

MISSION

The cross section of nature and humanity inspires everything I do. My work prioritizes eco-friendly processes such as risograph printing my illustrations, and utilizing upcycled materials or eco-friendly screenprinting for clothing

whenever possible.

VISION

To never stop creating, and to always do so with Earth in mind. If I can do this, good things will follow.

RIGHT NOW

As an artist and graphic designer I am constantly torn between these two worlds. I think this feeling led to creating greeting cards. They feel like the perfect in-between place of art and design. Each one starts with me drawing the night away, and ends with someone buying the card for a loved one because "it reminds me of that person". Thats what I want to do. To create these small moments that people try to remember by gifting a card. Unlike traditional fine art, they are only $7 a pop. Which makes them accessible to all.

While attending the University of North Alabama in 2017 I did not know what I'd pursue after college. Whether it was galleries or poster design, I just knew I wanted to keep creating. In my professional career as an in-house designer I have created products for companys such as Buc-ee's (yes that beaver gas station), Walmart, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Dollar General, Boy Scouts of America, and Tractor Supply Co. While freelancing I have recently worked with Nashville SC, SOHO House Nashville, and Built Nashville. Going forward my goal is to work more with local stores as a collaborator or whole-sale product provider via folding cards. With that being said I am also currently making a series of risograph prints for the purpose of gallery shows. My last gallery show was in Florence AL, in 2019, with a set of 5 ballpoint pen drawings. Getting back into galleries feels intimidating, but I'm hopeful for this exciting possibility.

Right now I'm open to new possibilities, if you'd like to work together or are interested in my wholesale offerings, please send an email my way. I'd be happy to chat!
